Let’s Rebuild Together
An Architect’s Thoughts for a Wounded City
My heart is shattered by what we've endured this week. Every street I walk down, every building I pass—they're more than just structures to me. As an architect, I've always found solace in the way buildings stand as silent guardians of our memories, outlasting our brief moments on Earth. But now, seeing our beloved city wounded like this, I feel a deep ache I can't shake.
I’ve been living in this amazing city since the mid-80s, it’s my home. I’ve seen it grow, thrive, and evolve over the years. It’s heartbreaking to witness our tragedy, but I’ve always been determined to do my part to make a positive difference.
Los Angeles isn't just my home—it's my muse, my canvas, my endless source of inspiration. From our historic architecture and cutting-edge design to our beloved Case Study House movement, this city has shaped not just my career, but my very soul. I've watched it grow, thrive, and evolve over the decades, and now it's crying out for help.
I love our community and I’m passionate about making a positive impact through design. I believe that design can transform daily life, whether it’s for a single person, a family, a child, or even a pet.
Los Angeles communities need to rebuild in a meaningful way. Let’s think bigger, reach further, and dream together. I believe we deserve a more comfortable way of living, and that starts with a home that truly meets our needs and the needs of our loved ones. Homes can serve us, sustainably and cost-effectively, and there are so many new building methods that are safer, more resilient, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly.
Our city deserves nothing less than our most passionate and most innovative revival. Together, we'll help LA rise again, more beautiful than ever.
During this challenging time, it’s important to take care of ourselves. I’m here to offer my professional support in any way I can. I’m looking forward to finding the silver lining.
Over the past two decades, I’ve had the pleasure of building meaningful relationships with many talented professionals in the field, including builders, craftsmen, engineers, designers, land use specialists, attorneys, and real estate agents. I’d love to help and connect with you.
